Guest lecture for journalism students

On November 28, 2022, a guest lecture for journalism students was held at the AIU, organized by Elira Turdubayeva, Head of the Journalism Department of the AIU. The lecturers were Elena Kolesova and Lucy Palmer, Professors of Media and Communication at the University of Central Asia (Naryn).

Topics such as “Multicultural Central Asia – happy coexistence or permanent conflict?” and “The essentials of Storytelling.” Foreign lecturers told about their experiences in the study of these topics and shared valuable information about “storytelling”, which helps to convey information through a story. The lecture was held in the format of questions-answers, where students asked questions of interest. 

Elena Kolesova is the author of work in the field of Japanese-Asian studies, Japanese history, popular culture of East Asia, ethnic media and intercultural communication. She is also the deputy editor of the New Zealand Journal of Asian Studies, a member of the Board of Scope.

Lucy Palmer is an award-winning journalist, editor and author of the acclaimed memoir “A Bird on My Shoulder” published by Allen & Unwin.
